Makers Cabinet is a brand that produces high-end stationery supplies, and is possibly best known for the HØVEL pencil sharpener — a brass finger plane for wood-cased pencils.
For Valentine's Day, Makers Cabinet commissioned me to produce three pieces commemorating famous love stories from different cultures, on a tight turn around. Because of this fast turnaround, unfortunately I don't have many photos documenting the project, but I wanted to include it here as it was a milestone project for me.
Each piece is made with ink, watercolour and colour pencil on paper, but I also endeavoured - with each piece - to adopt something of the artistic style of each story's country of origin. For example, Radha and Krishna's piece features elements of Indian miniature art.
As a brand that embodies many characteristics I aspire to in my own work, I was happy to work with Makers Cabinet, and look forward to using their tools in my own practice.
