Jennie Study October 2025 Acrylic on MDF panel (non-archival)
Created at the end of my imposed year of self-study, this is the culmination of all I've learned through observation and careful reproduction.
This piece begins to break away from the 'realist' works that populated the previous year. It's also the beginning of my work in a new medium – acrylic.
Similar to 'Stare' (2024), this piece deals with the topic of gaze – except, in this case, the subject's gaze is directed downward. This subtle difference to previous works creates an altogether different feeling – one of pensiveness, perhaps of vulnerability (or perhaps the opposite?).
